We Can Do Better With Your Involvement...

..As It Aligns With Our Value
Propositions

In Christmas 2007, we introduced the Harp Scholarship Program at a venue generously provided by the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong香港小童羣益會.  Initially, we planned to start with students referred by social workers in the Eastern Kowloon District, over a hundred of them attended our Scholarship launch. However, as fate would have it, the program began with just one student from a school on Hong Kong island months later.

Little did we anticipate that over the course of more than a decade, while relying on volunteer efforts in administration, we have provided harp experiences to hundreds of small groups across nearly every district in Hong Kong, witnessing the growth and transformation of many individuals.

We care deeply about the impact of our work.  Our operational model emphasizes partnerships with NGOs,  leveraging their localized expertise, venue proximity, staff familiarity with service users, and established support systems.  Likewise, NGO partners see our expertise and resources complement their services efficiently, leading to better projects' economics and motivation. This is how we can make each single effort, such as one outreach visit or one series of pilot classes, go a long way over time.

Depending on the project objectives, either we take the lead or the NGOs do. Our collaboration places outcomes over outputs and achieves many positive results, often exceeding our expectations and changing lives in profound ways.

The value of music education and healing services is universal*. Our value proposition lies in our extensive knowledge and resources in harp-related initiatives, backed by over 15 years of experience in serving others through the harp.  We maintain a lean structure, allowing us to direct all resources toward program success.

.

Organizations involved in scholarship and outreach efforts, such as the Baptist Church, Sheng Kung Hui, Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and SAHK, were all engaged through recommendations from like-minded members.  This network has allowed us to serve a diverse range of individuals.

We grow through the vision
of our supporters

Since our inception with about a dozen volunteers in 2006, we have been fortunate to receive support from friends with diverse backgrounds. Our founding members came from the education sector, as well as fields such as law, finance, marketing, business, and information technology. They all recognized the significant role music plays in nurturing children's potential.

Driven by the desire to break through the societal misconception that the harp is only for the affluent, and guided by voluntary harp teachers and professional harpists, we aimed to provide opportunities for children from all backgrounds to engage with the harp. Our goal was to broaden their horizons, foster confidence, enhance expressive abilities, and cultivate a spirit of continuous improvement through music training.

Eighteen years later, with the help of dedicated volunteers, we have expanded our reach. Like-minded parents, teachers, students, and friends from various harp circles and NGOs have joined us in initiating diverse forms of education and sharing.

Through these initiatives, we have uncovered the benefits of harp experiences in promoting physical rehabilitation, including hand-eye coordination, muscle training, and focused determination. This expansion has enabled us to serve a wider audience, including children and adults with and without disabilities.

A Message to Our Volunteers

Our work is like building with blocks, each contributed by volunteers who support us, whether for a single event, a specific period, or many years.

Every contribution matters. Our efforts enhance the hard work of many NGOs and bring invaluable friendliness to both caregivers and service users.

We are grateful to walk this journey with you and look forward to creating more blocks from the foundation you have helped build.
